Fast charging where the grid is thin

A fast charger draws a lot of power for a short time. In a dense, historic district the connection to do that either does not exist or takes years and a substation to build.

A battery-buffered charger decouples the two. It draws a modest, steady feed from an ordinary connection all day, stores it, and releases it quickly when a vehicle plugs in. The site needs a wall socket's worth of grid and gets a depot's worth of charging.

Inside the network that exists

The Kingdom already has a national charging network and the operators to run it. QAF depot units sit inside that world, not beside it.

Every QAF charges on the same CCS2 standard as any other electric vehicle in the Kingdom. The depot units use open protocols, so an operator can bring them into an existing back office, meter them, and manage them from the same screen as the rest of its estate. King Salman Gate is planned around seamless connection to public transport; QAF depots sit at those interchanges, where transit stops and the walking district begins.
